Hello. If you have come here looking for resources and ideas regarding 'Nature on your doorstep' then you are in the right place.
You can download a Spring Scavenger hunt from the following sites:
If you would like to go on a tiny treasure or elf/fairy hunt you can use these free templates:
How about using an empty egg box like Marthy did in the film? If you would like to use an egg box you could decorate the outside and then print off and stick this template inside the box:
Spring is a wonderful time to get outdoors as a family and notice the nature around you in a local green space or woodland. At the moment a lot of our local woodlands in Halton are abundant with Wild Garlic, the parks are full of Dandelions and Daffodils and if you are lucky you might even spot some Frog Spawn. Here is a video of some Frog Spawn we found and a little film about how to forage Wild Garlic:
Perhaps you could mix technology with the outdoors. There is a great app called 'What 3 words' that is free to use, perhaps you could organise a treasure hunt using it like in this video:
If you like using phones/iPads whilst outdoors how about downloading the Seek or Inaturalist apps as they are both free to use, just point your camera at what you have found and the app will tell you the name of the species. If you use the Seek app there are also awards/badges to collect.
There are so many free/low cost activities and creations you can make at this time of year. A great resource is https://www.webekids.net/spring as they have some amazing free resources on their website from creative crafts, yoga and some fantastic seasonal stories.
So, what's stopping you? Go get outdoors! I also hope to see you at the #HaltonMakefest on Saturday the 26th of March 2022 to make a wood cookie necklace/coaster/decoration.
